When oversized bars first appeared Thomson were slow to release a stem to fit them, but there’s a reason why.
Their classic Elite stem was already so good in the strength, stiffness and weight departments that they struggled to make an oversize one that outperformed it, and they were never going to release one that didn’t. They did eventually succeed though and subsequently this X4 has become just as much of a classic as the original.
We doubt you’ll ever find another stem that beats the strength to weight ratio of this one. It’s light enough for trail use, yet strong enough for DH. You’ll struggle to find a much better looking stem either, it just oozes understated class. We think to get all that for such a competitive price easily makes it warrant yet another Dirt 100 award.
