The fact is that if you’re dirt jumping there is going to come a time when you get it wrong big time and smash your forks to smithereens. All forks are breakable and so unless you’ve got money to burn we reckon it makes sense to buy a pair that offer decent levels of strength and performance without breaking the bank, and these are where we’d put our money.
Manitou have tweaked their Absolute+ compression system to deal specifically with the requirements of a dirt jump fork, which along with the TPC rebound and full range of external adjusters offers great control over the 100mm of travel (adjustable internally to 80mm). Using the Absolute+ you can adjust a platform from anywhere between fully open and fully locked out.
Strength is obviously as important as performance for a fork of this nature, and the Manitou is easily one of the strongest around, yet it still weighs in at a very competitive 2165g. Part of its great strength and stiffness can be attributed to the unique Hex–Lock axle which resists any form of twisting. Great design, great value.
