Bontrager XR4/SE4 Team Issue
With many reliable wheelset now running in at a lighter weight than the pair of tyres mounted to them, we thought we would feature a lighter model but one that still packs plenty of purpose and a reliable construction. With Bontrager being at the forefront of the lighter ‘Tubeless ready’ movement it is a given that they are as reliable choice for trail or enduro rubber. Bontrager’s ever popular XR4 trail tyre is often seen on production Trek bikes but the aftermarket Team Issue version is the primo choice here giving a good blend of a robust yet light 120TPI casing with a fast rolling dual compound 62a/60a tread. The SE4 (Super Enduro) Team Issue offers a softer shoulder (50a Durometer) and a tougher 60TPI construction if you feel the need for something beefier to run at a lower pressure. Providing great traction in loose, rocky and rough trails whether bone dry or after a dose of rain, these are a top choices as a front or a pair on a mid travel trail bike.
