The Slaughter is a new fast-rolling tread from Specialized and sits in their ‘All-mountain’ range of rubber. With a similar design to the Schwalbe Rock Razor, this tyre mates a lower profile 60a centre tread with a softer 50a aggressive shoulder for confident cornering. Specialized UK offer the Slaughter with their ‘Grid’ reinforced casing for more demanding terrain, helping to reduce the risk of cuts and pinch punctures. This features an additional cap ply under the tread for durability, and added stiffening to the sidewall. Sizing is only in a 2.3 inch width and works well on the rear teamed up with a large volume aggressively treaded tyre up front, such as the Specialized Butcher. These Slaughters are tubeless compatible, set-up reliably on suitable rims, remain airtight as well as many on the market and are at a great value price. A Slaughter DH is also available in 27.5 x 2.3″ at £45.
