An established tyre in the huge Maxxis range and often a ‘go to’ choice when needing to add a turn of speed to a mid travel bike. With a closely spaced centre tread, the Ardent manages to strike a great blend of speed and grip and it’s a tyre you’ll often see spec’ed on the rear of many production bikes. For a tyre this fast you would expect turning to be compromised but even run as a pair we are impressed with how much cornering traction the shoulder tread gives when the condition are dry, hard-packed and not too loose. In a high volume size the Ardent makes for a fast choice for all-round enduro use and with the comprehensive choice of sidewalls and compound you can get just the right combo for your trails. Prices can get high with Maxxis but this goes hand in hand with the quality construction. There are new tyres on the way from this brand but the Ardent is tried and tested rubber.
