Could 150mm of travel be the new sweet spot for enduro mountain bikes? Traditionally 160mm was the benchmark, but recent years have seen a much broader spectrum of travels being used, the 150mm enduro bike is among them.

You will probably notice that a lot of these bikes are 29ers. A little less travel can keep these bikes nimble while still offering the roll over advantages of bigger wheels. Boost hubs also make for a stiffer wheel to help on the bone-shaking long descents of the Enduro World Series.

Ibis Mojo HD 3

Ibis has always produced gorgeous bikes and the Mojo HD 3 is no exception. It calls back to the swooping silhouette of the original but retains enough modern characteristics to look like a stone cold stunner.

The Ibis team is headed by the Gehrig twins who took this bike to second in the team rankings with third and fifth places.

Yeti SB 6c

Is this bike unbeatable? The last three Enduro World Series competitions have been won by men aboard this turquoise terror and there seems to be no sign of that stopping with Richie Rude in scintillating form.

The TURQ carbon weave sees this bike drop 300 grams for next year making it even more of a formidable machine. This truly is a bike with pedigree, pace and piercing good looks, it’s just a shame only those with deep pockets will ever get their hands on one.

Trek Slash

“Almighty” is how we described the Slash when we first saw it. It’s a breath-taking beast. More than anything this bike is a statement. With the Slash, Trek is telling everyone that 29 wheels are the way forward for enduro.

We’re yet to have a proper ride ride on the updated Slash but it’s already a race winner.

Niner WFO 9

Niner are the 29 specialists and refuse to use any other wheel size. That’s why it’s safe to say the WFO 9 is probably the most refined bike on this list.

It comes with Niner’s 29 specific CVA suspension and a blurb that challenges you to hit 30 foot tables, sounds good to us!

BMC Trailfox 01

BMC has historically had a reputation for making efficient (boring) cross country style trail bikes. Enduro has brought the brand alive, allowing it to produce a range of gravity fed steeds.

Top of the pile is the Trailfox. It’s another 29er that still muches up the ground but also has the ability to tackle burly terrain too.

Nukeproof Mega 290

The bike named after one of the most arduous enduro events in the world got its first 29 inch offering this year. The Nukeproof Mega 29 may sport 10mm less travel than the 650b version but it’s still just as capable.
