Renthal is a brand steeped with pedigree of a two-wheeled nature, both pedal and motor powered and has always been a favourite with us at Dirt. This UK based brand has a true understanding of what’s needed for hardcore use and has been producing components since 1969.

When the DH mountainbike scene grew, they got on board and have become a trusted name especially when it comes to bars and stems, with a great line in grips too. We’ve picked Renthal’s aluminium Fatbar for the Dirt 100 this year. Why? Well it offers so much and at a price that is affordable for most riders and is now offered with more options.

With 35mm clamp bars and stems now an established option, we started to wonder whether Renthal would remain with the 31.8mm ‘standard’ size and not move forward. This year, they gave all their Fatbars an overhaul and as a result have nudged the width up to 800mm along with adding the 35mm clamp option.

Tried and tested, DH proven and yet not overkill on a trail bike, Renthal get it right yet again.

Renthal have not rushed this change and have spent plenty of development time testing and tweaking the bars so that the ride quality and feel remains very similar to the bars with the smaller clamp size. They noted, as we have at Dirt, that bigger isn’t always better and as a result have not made any compromises in the attempt to keep up with yet another standard.

With four rise options (10,20,30 or 40mm), a touch less back sweep (at 7 degrees) than many bars, this revamped 7050 T6 aluminium Fatbar lets you fine-tune the fit of your bike. Tried and tested, DH proven and yet not overkill on a trail bike, Renthal get it right yet again.

PRICE: £69.99 (35mm), £64.99 (31.8mm)
