If you’ve got a SRAM chainset and want to run a single ring then this has to be by far the neatest solution.

The MRP Bling Ring is compatible with any SRAM or Truvativ chainset that has a removable spider (think XX, XO, X9 and AKA) and it provides a far lighter and neater single ring solution. Because you’re removing the spider, and any need for chainring bolts, the Bling Ring is up to 40% lighter than a standard set up. The 34t ring shown here tipped our scales at just 83g, which isn’t much heavier than many standard rings alone.

The ring is available in even sizes between 28 and 36t, and if you’re wondering why the price is a fair bit higher than a regular chainring it’s simply because this one involves a lot more machining due to its offset shape. Basically it has to be made from a considerably larger lump of aluminium billet. We reckon it’s worth it though as it should last for ages, and it does offer some genuine benefits. It also saves you having to try and track down chainrings with a suitable bolt circle diameter for SRAM cranks.

If we’d like to see anything change it would simply be that it’d be nice to have some more colour options apart from the gunmetal grey, but saying that this colour does go well with the black cranks. Oh, and I suppose those of you who like to be really anal about chainring size might like some odd sizes too, but on the whole we reckon this is a great new product from MRP.
