Pivot releases Shuttle e-bike

The e-bike tsunami continues

In a Eurobike lacking big launches from many major brands, Pivot have released the Shuttle e bike. It’s a full-carbon e-bike and one of the most svelte and sexy we’ve seen.

The Shuttle e-mountain bike has been three years in development from the American brand and it’s the lightest e-bike we know of coming in a shade under 20kgs. It may seem a bit pointless to make a light e-bike (after all you have the motor to overcome any efficiency issues a heavier bike packs) but Pivot say that the downhill performance is improved by its nimbleness. We’ve only had a pedal around the car park but it certainly feels like the most sprightly e-bike going (without the motor switched on) and we’ve no doubt we’ll be thrashing it on our local before too long.

The bike has been designed around the geometry of the Firebird, our benchmark 170mm bike, so the 64 degree head angle and ample reach of the Shuttle has us excited for what’s to come. The chainstays are kept super short (437mm) thanks to the Super Boost Plus standard first implemented by the Switchblade.

The bike is powered by a Shimano Steps E-8000 motor with the battery integrated into the downtube. The access seems much better than the Specialized Turbo Levo or Scott e-Genius with heavy duty screws used to keep it in place while still allowing for easy access if you want to change out a battery,

The Pivot Shuttle will be a European exclusive and will cost around 9 grand. There’s only one build kit available with Fox suspension and a Di2 groupset.

Stay tuned to Dirt for more.
