Nukeproof 2017 bike range – new

Tweaks and spec changes to the Pulse and Mega

The Nukeproof 2017 range is here and launched at the Bike Show this weekend. With a very convincing line-up for such a young brand, their frame design, attention to detail and specification is up there with the best. WE CHECK OUT WHAT’S IN THE NEW LINE UP.

NUKEPROOF MEGA

One of our favourite bikes of 2016 and a pick in our Dirt 100 line-up, the Mega gets a face lift for 2017. With new finishes and extended spec levels to improve the range, the Mega is available with both 27.5″ (160mm rear travel) and 29″ (150mm) wheel sizes. Plenty of choice…

TEAM

The Team model is based on Sam Hill’s EWS winning Mega 275, designed to be ‘ready to win’ out of the box, it features 170mm RockShox Lyrik up front, new Mavic Deemax Pro wheels and Mavic tyres. The Team also includes the revolutionary SRAM 1×12 Eagle drivetrain. Nukeproof finishing kit is also upgraded to includes their well shaped wide Carbon bars and Vector AM saddle. This bike is indeed ready to race.

Mega 275 Team £4699.99

PRO

The Pro Models are in a full stealth black finish this year in both 275 (27.5″wheel) and 290 options (29″). Again a RockShox Lyrik is upfront, but due to consumer demand this bike is now offered with Shimano’s XT 1×11 drive train and XT brakes (a pick in the 2016 Dirt 100). Schwalbe’s Magic Mary, another favourite of ours, helps up front with an upgraded Trail Star Nobby Nic out back.

Mega 275 Pro £3399.99

Mega 290 Pro £3399.99

The Mega Race model uses the new 1×11 SRAM NX transmission.

COMP

The Mega Comp is a true trail weapon. With the Rockshox Pike and Monarch Solo air taking care of damping, the Comp is designed to allow you to push on harder than you thought possible. A mix of SRAM GX and X1 on the drivetrain is bang on at this price point – a very competitive package.

Mega 275 Comp £2799.99

Mega 290 Comp £2799.99

RACE

The Race models get a huge upgrade using SRAM’s new NX 1×11 drivetrain and the Rockshox Yari forks. Reliable Shimano Deore M615 brakes give reassuring control of speed. With colours and graphics inspired by Nukeproof’s trips to Italy the 290 and 275 Race models are born of the same DNA as the Team and Pro builds.

Mega 275 Race £2299.99

Mega 290 Race £2299.99

Mega frames, 275 or 290: £1599.99

NUKEPROOF PULSE

For 2017 the Nukeproof Pulse has geometry updates and improved build specifications and again will be available in two guises, the Team and the Comp. We’ve not had exact details on the geometryThis 200mm travel bike has a slacker, longer yet sleeker design and is at home racing downhill World Cups or lapping the bike parks. It’s great to see fours sizes, S,M,L and XL.

TEAM

The Pulse Team is a no nonsense World cup racer, as used by the CRC-Paypal team this year. With podium proven pedigree, this bike has helped Elliot Heap to 3rd overall at the Junior Downhill World Cup, Mike Jones to qualifying 1st at the Fort William World Cup and scoped numerous national titles in 2016. Also available as a frame only option for a true custom build. A Boxxer WC fork, Vivid R2C rear shock, SRAM X0-1 DH 7 speed transmission and Mavic DeeMax DH wheels is a sound spec. Many though would want a touch more width on the bar, with Nukeproof’s bar measuring in at 760mm.

Pulse Team (bike) £5249.99  Pulse frame £1999.99

COMP

The Pulse Comp is a designed for the national racer and riders who just love riding and racing downhill. Nukeproof’s youth development team raced the Pulse Comp with great success in 2016 and winning national and international races proving its competitiveness and speed. With Nukeproof’s custom hydroformed T6 6061 aluminium frame and performance spec including RockShox BoXXer Team, Kage RC shock and new GX DH 7 speed SRAM drivetrain, the Comp is ready to perform day in and out.

Pulse Comp (bike) £3149.99

NUKEPROOF SCOUT

The Scout 275 and 290 also have new spec models out, taking advantage of the new SRAM and Shimano 1×11 systems. The well-regarded RockShox Yari fork is now standard kit on both the 275 and 290 Comp models. New for 2017, RockShox introduce the 275 Sport, with the same Scout frame but a more competitively priced build. This is a great introduction to the Nukeproof range. Frame only options will also be available.

Scout 290 bikes: From £1099.99, Scout 290 frame: £349.99
