I don’t know about you but to me this winter seems LONG AND WET! The long nights have been accompanied by long spells of rain leaving my local trails sloppy and in need of a rest. This has meant the regular winter night rides have been few and far between and weekend missions to trail centres or rocky Peak District loops have been essential for sanity.
To keep moving other activities have been introduced, gym sessions and sp-intervals; not training for anything specific, just life. When life revolves around two wheels, it kind of makes sense. This interspersed with regular winter Dual races has been doing a great job of maintaining sanity.
Matt Gosling hasn’t been letting the winter get him down. He’s been taking advantage of the sloppy loam available in Macc Forest and practising his drifting and turns as captured by Caldwell Visuals.
At the other end of the spectrum we have Team Atherton on two week training camp in Fuerteventura under the watchful eye of Alan Milway. Living the high life in a dedicated training camp alongside Swedish Olympians, smashing out road rides a lifting heavy things. Serious dedication to the World Cup season ahead.
Where do you sit on this spectrum? Are you hold up at home in front of the fire looking out the window, or out on two wheels getting your fix whenever you can? Are you training ready to race? Are you training ready to ride? Are you sat on your fat arse trolling mountain bike forums giving your opinions even though you haven’t got a clue how to do it yourself?
