The first in the series of 661 Mini DH winter races took place last weekend in the Forest of Dean, and I know these races always have a good turnout, but this time it was amazing, especially when it came to the girls. No fewer than 27 of them raced, that’s more than you get racing at some World Cups!
Katy Curd helped out by giving them all some tips and pointers, and this is exactly what we need to see if the women’s side of the sport is to grow. These Mini DH races have always been good for grassroots racing, and it’s great to see these races now having the same effect on girls. They really are a great place to start racing, always relaxed, and always fun.
