A new bike park has just opened near Todmorden, and if you’re wondering where that is, it’s here…

Wondering why the hell you’ve heard of Todmorden before? It’s because that’s where Singletrack Magazine is based. Singletrack…Cockhill…I shall resist.

Anyway, after years of illegal trail building in the woods the tracks came under the threat of closure, but thanks to the formation of Dirt-trax Ltd who will officially maintain and build the trails in Cockhill Woods, the whole thing is now entirely legit. Currently there is one DH track, one freeride track, and they’re in the process of finishing the dirt jump area. As membership money starts to filter in though the money will be used to help build even more tracks. It’s a proper local grassroots kind of thing, and it’s great to see it happening. So often riding spots can be shut down, but with a bit of effort the situation can often be remedied, if not made even better than it ever was.
