Not knowing much about Kross bikes we asked Michał Łuczyński a few questions:
I’ve not heard of Kross bikes before, tell us a bit about your history?
Kross company started manufacturing bikes over 20 years ago. At the beginning Kross was a small factory but things have moved on and we are now one of the biggest bike facilities in Europe with huge storage (17.000 m2) and four modern production lines. In 2006 we started out our marketing and branding centre, which is responsible for research and development in conjunction with our project and design centre we’ve worked things like the RVS system, Kross Earth, Kross Moon and a few other secrets too.
Do you manufacture in Poland or in Taiwan?
Whole process begins in our Polish factory in Przasnysz where we have our offices, design centre, production lines and storage. At first our designers make the prototype of a new frame. Then our agent takes it to Taiwan where the frames will be welded. He’s there to supervise the work and the quality of the frames. Then the frames come back to Poland to our modern painting facility, which incidentally is one of the biggest in Europe. It’s called OMEGA.
Where in Poland are you? How many people work there?
Kross factory is situated in small town called Przasnysz. It’s about 100km from the Polish Capital- Warsaw. We have about 300 people working for us. All of them are qualified for specialist work. What’s more, in our crew we have specialists from all over the country.
Will you develop a downhill bike?
What can I say about downhill bike? Maybe only this, yes, we’re still working on this project. But in fact right now the most important is our enduro project, the Kross Moon. But the downhill bike will have our original suspension system, the RVS too.
What’s the riding scene like in Poland? All we see is dirt jumping, is there a downhill, all-mountain/enduro scene, general riding scene?
Yes, for sure in Poland we have strong dirt scene. In fact, we have our Kross dirt team too: Adam & Marcin are one of the most talented kids in Poland.
We have the FRO PRO downhill crew, which took a part in many UCI DH World Champs editions. As we reported, day-by-day enduro mtb is more popular too. Also we have many great places (bike parks, dirt spots and downhill tracks- for e.g. Dirt park in Warsaw.). The coolest event of last season was definitely Joy Ride Bike Festival in Kluszkowce Bike Park.
