Two weekends ago, 18 year old Shropshire mountain biker, Jess Stone, took out the women’s Maxxis Cup Series title in Port Aine, Spain.
In her international debut year of elite women’s downhill racing, Jess picked up second place in each of the first three rounds of the Maxxis Cup. Jess won the final round comfortably at Port Aine to take out the series title.
“I was so pleased with my performance over the weekend and during the race. I tried not to push too hard as at round three, I had a big stack so I just wanted to get down safe with a respectable time,” explained Jess.
Currently racing on the UCI World Cup circuit with the 2Stage Factory Team and fellow UK downhill mountain bikers, Tom Deacon and Alex Powell, Jess is getting invaluable experience from training with her team mates.
”The 2Stage Factory Team has put so much effort in to ensure that I was fully prepared and I’m happy I have been able to win this for them. I would never have got this far without the fantastic bike and all the hard work that is put in behind the scenes and in the pits.”
At the most recent UCI World Cup round in Maribor, Slovenia, Jess achieved her best result yet finishing in the top 15. It’s proof that this is one young Brit with a bright future.
