Here’s a selection of bits and bobs that came through the Dirt doors this week.

Element Nickel Wide Bars – No rise – 9deg sweep.

Branded as the first flat downhill specific bar, these are now available through RidingHighUK.
They come in at 760mm wide with a 9° sweep. The sweep is quite drastic on a flat bar, but when in your hands the bars feel fine, and will definitely help you get a bit more weight over the front of the bike if that’s what you’re after. They weighed in at 280g on our scales, which is similar to most other lightweight DH race bars.

Low bars seem to be where it’s at right now, and FSA are also making a flat bar with a 10° sweep and 770mm wide. The Nickels are available now though, and at £54.99 (same price as a Sunline V1) they’re sure to make a dent in the market with the racers.

Chris from MucOff dropped by the other day with a whopping great can of 750ml disc brake cleaner and also this tiny Mobi pressure washer.
The Mobi can be powered off your cars ciggy-lighter (a £300 quid Ebay Beamer in our case) so would be ideal for race weekends.It gives off enough squirt to shift wet mud by giving 45.5psi to 130.5psi from it’s 15L tank, it’s only 5KG unloaded too and has a SSP of £99.99. which seems like a bargain.

Remember that Mike Montgomery video I posted a while back? Well Matt from Republik sent that over, we got chatting and he said I should check out some of their rding gear. So I said, well beam me over some jeans then and so he did.
I do quite like riding in jeans every now and then, you can have a ride and then if you’re not that muddy can go shopping afterwards without changing.
These Republik pants are 98% cotton and have a crucial 2% spandex (the material of the rock god). The 2% rock god material is just enough to give the trou’ some flex and springage and let you pedal. Not sure if they’re available in the UK but you can get them at Republik in the USA for $79.99.

Another one of these classic Hope hubs came into the office today, they do that sometimes. The Hope Pro 2 is the original do-everything hub. From Cross Country to Downhill at World Cup level, the Pro2 hub just keeps on rolling.
And at 176g (front hub with 20mm conversion), its one of the lightest hubs out there, especially for the £55 (front hub) price. We’re going to give this one a hammering on some of the new DT Swiss FR600 Rims, so keep checking for some updates on how they’re keeping up.

Lastly this Albert from Madison sent us this prototype Gamut dual ring. As you can see by our lovely scales she weighs in at 164g. She will be available later in the year so stay tuned for more news.
