Tan Hong Chun, from Singapore has come to South Africa for his first world cup. He is a Morewood distributor and one of the lucky few on the new Makulu. His is ‘blinged out’ with custom gold anodizing on his chainring, linkage and a custom painted gold Fox fork.

This is one of the changes on the 3rd generation Evil bikes. They are doing things right, fine tuning all the little details before releasing the bikes to the public (the previous edition had the clamps in the front of the head tube that had a tiny clearance issue with the fork arch lowers.)

Joost Wickman was looking good until the 4X finals where he and Roger Rinderknecht tangled in the first corner. Nothing has changed in 4X apparently.

Ladies’ first and second for 4X. Fionn Griffiths took the win closely followed by Emeline Ragot.

Fabien Cousine (cous cous) has a huge fan base in Maritzburg, after interning at Morewood for three months as part of his engineering degree. He also won today’s 4X much to the fan’s delight.

Gold for Fionn. A good start to an early season.

Leatt Brace’s head engineer and product developer, Mark Hopkins, (ex SA DH champ) is racing this weekend but also has his hands full helping all the riders with the proper set up for their braces. It good to see more and more riders adopting this great piece of safety equipment.

This is the head Makulu behind the Makulu. Patrick Morewood is proof that Morewood is truly a rider owned and operated company.
