Dirt Office news

First up some bike news from Ed h.

“Now none of the bikes that arrive at the Dirt office are actually ‘ours’ so to speak, but that still doesn’t stop us all trying to lay claim to each one before the others get chance, and that’s exactly what I’ve done with this beauty.

I’ve wanted to have one of these Commencal Supreme Racing bikes on long term test ever since I got to spend a day on one out in Andorra last year, and now it’s finally happened. Wahoo!

Anyway, this bike is the replacement for the old ‘Mini DH’ (which we reckon was a much more self explanatory name), and it’s essentially a 6” version of the bike that the Atherton’s ride at World Cups.
Rather than being designed for winning World Cups this bike is purely designed for having fun, and that’s my lasting memory of this bike from that day in Andorra. Anyway the frame only turned up two days ago and I’ve already managed to sneak out on enough occasions to our workshop to get it built up with whatever bits I could find lying around, and now I just can’t wait for the Forest of Dean race at the weekend to take it out…oh, and I must admit I’m also loving the fact that the rest of the office seem pretty jealous about this one.
Find out more in a forthcoming issue of Dirt…”

I love old tools, maybe because I am an old tool. So I got quite excited when this Record No.74 Auto Vice turned up. Actually it didn’t “just turn up”, our new tea boy Jake brought it in from his shed.
We’re in the process of turning our store room into a workshop. Madison sent us a complete lot of spanking new Park Tools which do everything, but sometimes you need an old classic like the No.74 for certain jobs.
We’ll be doing some video “how to’s” soon so watch out for that.

This whopper of an MX helmet from Fly Racing turned up yesterday, as you can see she’s a chunky affair weighing in at 1483g on our scales and has a vent reminiscent of a storm troopers draining board but at 90 quid offers good protection for your noodle.
