Pump Tracks have started to emerge all over the UK in recent years. From City centres to rural parks, Pump Tracks take up a small amount of space and provide about as much fun as you can have on a bicycle. No matter what bike you have, or what your skill level is, a pump track is the place to have fun and learn new skills. These new pump tracks have produced a style of riding that combines the skills of all mountain bike disciplines – 4X, Downhill, Cross Country and Dirt Jumping.

The new discipline of Pump Track racing has really taken off Worldwide over the past few years. The bike brand DMR (www.dmrbikes.com) were quick to acknowledge this last year and launched the ‘DMR Pump Track Challenge’ Series. In 2011 there have been three events that have each produced a different winner. Round 1 was won by Bernhard Kerr, Round 2 by Scott Beaumont and Round 3 by Ben Baker. All of these riders will be attending The London Bike Show to find out who will be the King of the London Pump Track.

In addition to these guys, Will Longden, Bernard Kerr, Olly Wilkins, Sam Reynolds, Lewis Lacey, Scott Roberts and Duncan Ferris will headline the UK pro riders who will be invited to challenge for the win.
The track will be slightly different to the other pump tracks that have been used so far for the series. This time the riders will be on a wooden track that will be designed and built by ShoreTrax (www.shoretrax.com). The wooden track will be a dual race with riders racing head to head around it in less than 20 seconds over rollers and around berms.

For 2012, The London Bike Show organisers thought it was important to add a racing discipline to their ‘live action arenas’ and the ‘DMR Pump Track Challenge’ was the perfect discipline to bring to the Excel arena in January.

Pro 4X rider, Scott Beaumont added:
‘The DMR Pump Track Challenge Series in 2011 has been one of the highlights of the season for me. The tracks are really good fun for the riders and exciting for spectators. Racing in front of a big crowd in London Excel in January is going to be amazing. I can’t wait!
