A quick catch up with Lance McDermott to find out where he’s been and what he’s up to for 2012
Hey Lance you slipped off the radar, where have you been? What have you been doing?
As you know I broke my leg and was out for two years two full seasons due to complications with the break and 1st surgery. I was on crutches for 18 months solid which meant a long time without a bike 🙁 I’m now back on my bike and had one season back in competition witch wasn’t so bad for my 1st season back 🙂 but now its winter time and that means lots of practice going to the States working hard for 2012 I want my name back up there as I know I’m capable of it. Lots of new tricks I’m working on that will be mind blowing for the new season 😉
You were known for one of the first to front flip, now it seems as though every man and his dog can do it, have you got any new big tricks in your trick bag? I see you launching the double backflip in the video.
Yeah the front flip was a good trick but I now look at that trick as a simple backflip “BORING!” I didn’t have time to learn any new tricks for my 1st season back as I was only just able to ride at the beginning of it. The Double flip is a new trick for me something I want to work on for 2012 as I have this trick pretty dialed but I don’t want it to be like the front flip was years ago and do it on the final jump as a big trick. I think I can get comfortable with this trick and bring the double flip to a mid set mid run trick, I think this would be cool. I have some really nice new tricks I’m working on for 2012 and I think a lot of people are going to be shocked as the old Lance is back with a hole new trick bag 🙂
Where do you ride in the UK? As you know I’m from Manchester that means lots and lots of rain haha, I don’t get to ride much dirt so I make do with what I have and that has to be one of the best skateparks in the UK, Rampworx. I’m a local at Rampworx and they are always adding new ramps and changing the place around so I have to say a big thank you to them guys as they have helped get me where I am over the years Thanks Rampworx www.rampworx.com
What are your plans for 2012?
I plan to come back strong in 2012 with a whole new look, riding style and image with big powerful tricks and style. This is going to be the hardest winter of my life! 2012 there will be lots of media from me and I will defiantly be attending all the events.
