Max Commencal, simply, has been there since day one. As the brains behind both Sunn and, of course, his own Commencal team, he’s ever-present on the World Cup scene.
In his time he’s nurtured some of the most potent forces downhill has ever seen – Vouilloz, Chausson, Garcia and the Athertons to name a few.
He now resides in Andorra to keep an eye on the company that bears his name. His race team are still making waves too with PomPon picking up her first title just last year.
We caught up with Max to chat downhill bikes past and present, the nature of champions, and regrets.
