Steve Jones bids farewell to Dirt

Take it steady Jonesy

Peerless in terms of insight, understanding and ability to hold a pint, Steve Jones is parting ways with Dirt after 15 years working with the mag.

Steve joined us (wellies and all) as a rider on the Dirt Intense team and we’ve struggled to get rid of him ever since. In his time at Dirt, Steve became one of the world’s most respected bike reviewers, helping to discover some iconic brands and bikes – to this day, the Dirt 100 remains one of the best product guides going. His World Cup knowledge is also peerless and he helped to set the blueprint for the World Cup coverage that smothers the internet today.

We owe Jonesy a huge amount for all the hard work, late nights and hangovers he has put into Dirt and the brand wouldn’t be where it is today without him. His huge personality and work-ethic will be irreplaceable and there’s no doubt that British mountain biking owes him a great deal.

Steve will remain part of Dirt until November while he works on our latest print project, a book that chronicles the 25-year history of World Cup racing, from Vouilloz’s win as a 16-year-old in Cap d’Ail through to the modern day. It’s going to be a cracker and we have more information coming soon.

Dirt will continue going from strength-to-strength with a hungry team of James Smurthwaite, Ieuan Williams, Sean White and Tom Caldwell taking the brand forwards with plenty of things up their sleeves.

We wish Steve all the best in his future endeavours.

Cheers Jonesy!
