It’s officially the off-season and that means instead of covering races we get to spend our time finding things like this. Three years ago this Aussie mountain biker was riding through the bush when he was attacked by a trailside emu. Yeah, it’s a bit old but it seems like it’s a bit of an undiscovered gem so we thought we’d share it anyway.

Emus may not seem scary from afar but they can grow up to six feet tall and run at 50 kmh. In fact, Australia once went to war with emus… and lost (don’t believe us?).

Thankfully this mountain biker emerged unscathed from the incident but understandably shaken up. Maybe it mistook his squealing Avid brakes for a mating call!
