Watch: Popping in a dislocated shoulder on the side of a trail

"Dude, we totally just figured it out"

If you’re squeamish then this video isn’t for you, but for those of us that can stomach it, it’s well worth a watch.

Seth and Alex (two mountain biking YouTubers) were out on a ride when Alex took an OTB and dislocated his shoulder. Without signal on their phones, they had to improvise with some trail side first aid.

The moment it goes back in is great, and both riders are clearly stoked on working it out. Adrenaline is a crazy drug! Fair play to Alex, who even carries on shredding after the makeshift surgery.

Seth said: “Alex and I headed out into one of the most remote areas of the Ozark Mountains to ride Upper Buffalo River. To make a long story short, things didn’t work out the way we planned, and I found myself trying to get Alex’s shoulder back into its socket with zero experience in the matter.

“Alex won’t be riding for a bit, as we now know. At the time, we really didn’t know much about dislocated shoulders, but it seems there is a fair amount of recovery time before he should go hard on it again.

“The fact that he’s cool with me putting this footage up is a testament to how humble of a guy Alex is. His channel revolves around riding the gnarliest trails in the world, yet he fell on a little rock on a relatively smooth switchback. If you ain’t falling, you ain’t riding.

“Although everything turned out okay, it made me realize how unprepared I am for these situations. It could have been a half inch margin that meant him getting back on the bike, or his whole arm popping out of its socket. I’m going to take the time to prepare for future scenarios, having experienced this.”

Both Seth and Alex have great channels, go and check them out at Seth’s Bike Hacks and Singletrack Sampler.
