It’s crunch time. With just one race to go the overall standings start to mean a lot more. For the women it’s already too late as Rachel claims the title, but the race for second is as hot as ever. Both the men’s titles are still wide open however, let’s get into it:
Men Juniors
The Juniors’ title race has boiled down to a two horse race with Iles and Vige juking it out for the win. Iles’ strong start to the season sees him 35 points clear but with 60 on offer at each round he will have to keep his eyes firmly over his shoulder.
Congrats also to Elliott Heap who has found a late season vein of form to leap frog Matt Walker into third.
Women
Rachel Atherton sewed up her title in style with an 11 second victory in Mont Sainte Anne. When you consider she has dropped only 30 points all season all you can do is stand back and applaud. An amazing achievement.
The next three riders (Carpenter, Hannah and Seagrave) are separated by just 85 points. Anyone of them could still claim second making it a big point of interest for Andorra in a month’s time.
Men
With his second victory of the year, Danny Hart has kept the title fight alive, but Gwin is unlikely to lose it with one race to go. He only needs 78 points to clinch it, so roughly a top ten, considering he’s not been off the podium all season he should be able to finish the job without too much bother.
The rest of the top four remains the same but Connor Fearon leaps up into fifth ahead of Vergier
