DEFEET SOCKS
I felt I had to include these are seeing the state of Steve’s Troy Lee ones in issue 64. His were completely destroyed and he still reckoned they were good, I’m not so sure. I’ve have these socks for years now and they’ve outlasted at least three pairs of shoes and they’re still going strong. The best thing is though that they’re made from Merino wool, stinky socks are a thing of the past! I’ve got a couple of different types of their socks (they make loads), but all of them have been amazing. I wouldn’t put my feet in anything else.

More of product that lets you hammer harder and longer rather than one which you can actually hammer. I normally don’t bother with any of this fancy drink malarkey, but this stuff is something else. It’s been designed specifically for short burst activities like DH and 4X, and alongside a load of crazy carbohydrates and anti–cramp stuff it also contains a massive dose of caffeine. I don’t know if it’s just because I don’t drink tea or coffee, but this stuff makes me feel like I’m on cloud 9.5. One word of warning though, I wouldn’t get too carried away the stuff…let’s just say my bowels were a little on the loose side after I went on an Xtreme bender.

This stem was featured in the Fresh Produce section of this mag a few months back and at the time Ed figured it could survive a holocaust. That’s not exactly the reason I’ve chosen to run it, but rather because it’s about one of the shortest stems you can find, which is just how I like ‘em. It measures 35mm from centre to centre and has 0º rise with about 1cm height adjustability by flipping it over. The machining is minimal but turns it from a plain ‘ol block into a stem that has garnered lots of attention whilst out on the trails. The bolts have a bit of a habit of working themselves loose but it’s nothing a little loc–snot can’t cure, and of course it is made like everything else from BMW…it will be around longer than I will. I’m sure I’ll be happy using it until the day I die.
