More superb shots from Laurence as the riders went flat out down the short 2014 Windham World Cup track. After some rain early on the track dried out and as the day went on the surface sped up in time with the riders. The full qualifying results are here.
The Juniors were off first and the results sheet was mixed up by some new faces in the top 5. Luca Shaw pulled out another win taking the top points going into racing later today. Thomas Estaque from the Lac Blanc Scott team came in across the line to take second place and some handy points. Ferran Jorba Prats took third place with Loris Vergier making 4th after a crash mid way down his run, Taylor Vernon rounded out the top 5.
In the Women it was time for Rachel to step up and she took the win ahead of Emmeline Ragot and Tracey Hannah. Series leader Manon Carpenter had to settle for fourth after coming in to her qualifying run a little too tentative. That said she went fastest through the speed trap so she could be saving herself for racing later today. On her home track Jill Kintner took 5th place and some solid points for her, she DNF’d at the race here in 2012 so she will be hoping to get back near the top spots again later today.
The Mens qualifying was just fast, riders taking the lines that gave them the best speed and pushing it at race pace. Danny Hart found a big huck line that led him and others drifting into the next left hander. After going fastest in Timed Training it wasn’t Gee’s day and he slipped back to 15th. Danny was up to speed in TT as well and he still had most of it going into qualifying, 6th for Danny but we know there is more to come from the Redcar Rocket. It was Josh Bryceland’s day again though, first place ahead of Gwin in second and an amazing 3rd from Neko Mulally. Loic Bruni came over in 5th and the racing later today is going to be amazing, make sure you tune in.
