Ask any of us here at Dirt what problem should have long been eradicated from mountain biking and we’d all say ride-ruining punctures.

On a one man mission to eradicate the hiss of doom is Mr Wolf. First his Banger tubeless system used a foam insert to protect the rim and reduce the volume of air in the tyre (think of it as a beefed up Huck Norris) and now he has the Smart Mousse system that he believes will totally eradicate punctures in ebikes.

The system uses a mini inner tube and a foam insert that directly contacts with the inside of the tyre. The small tube sits on rim of the tyre, inside the foam tube and can be inflated or deflated to simulate changing the pressure in a standard tyre system.

Does it work? Well Mr Wolf is certainly confident offering a 12 month guarantee with every purchase. Brave, for sure, but with an inch of foam protecting the tube it might be a fairly safe bet…

The obvious drawback here is weight (up to 640 grams), but that becomes more nullified when you consider you’ll have a motor powering you up the climbs. There could well be other performance differences too but we’ll save our inhibitions until we get a proper test done.
