Every so often, a classic mtb film appears full length on YouTube and (now that we don’t have a VHS player) we’re always happy to stick it on for an evening. This time, it’s The Collective, the original ‘modern’ mtb movie.
We get proper chills of nostalgia watching this epic film featuring a host of very young looking riders including Matt Hunter, Jordie Lunn, Ryan Leech, Darren Berrecloth, Geoff Gulevich and more.
The Collective stands out for its cinematic feel and lifestyle vibe over its contemporaries. It’s still got plenty of old-skool vibes going on though with baggy jeans and big stunts taking a lot of screen time. It’s also shot on 16mm film, adding to the vintage aesthetic.
