Leogang may not be a favourite with some riders but others seem to relish belting down the track in Austria and that’s exactly what they will all be doing this weekend. There have been some track changes apparently but the details of that are thin on the ground until track walk time.

Set in the Austrian Alps Leogang is definitely one of the more stunning World Cup locations and no doubt the racing will be tight come Sunday. Our man Laurence will be out there with his camera box capturing all the action and making sure you all get to see all the best shots from practice, qualifying and finals.

The track in Leogang is based around the bike park so is considered a bit soft compared to somewhere like nearby Schladming that would be preferred by some riders. Minnaar won Worlds here before so goes in strong looking to pull back some points in the overall out in the land of Lederhosen. After Troy Brosnan’s first ever win last weekend in Fort William he will no doubt be confident going into this race but team mate Aaron Gwin will also be hungry for a win.

Rachel Atherton ended up being disqualified at Fort William and with the three top British women all puncturing they will be coming into this race all guns blazing.

The weather has been good in Leogang previously but it’s looking like things might change this weekend. It’s glorious there at the moment according to the rider Tweets and Instagrams we have seen but that could be set to change. Leogang is working from the schedules last year with finals being on Sunday rather than the Saturday races in Cairns and South Africa and it’s the Sunday that looks damp, these are the mountains though and anything could happen.

Last year here the race for the overall came down to this track, Gee and Stevie Smith were battling for points and the racing was tense. Steve took it and with it finished one of the most amazing seasons in World Cup downhill we have seen for years. To get you ready for the weekend here is the Finals video from last year.
