Here’s the top five Women from today’s scorching finals from UCI World Cup Round 1 in Lourdes, France (scroll down for full results).
1:Emmeline Ragot
2:Rachel Atherton
3:Myriam Nicole
4:Manon Carpenter
5:Tracey Hannah
Ohlala, the speed of the top girls is staggering. While the top five finishers retained the same names as qualifying, the order changed up a little with Emmeline Ragot rocketing to a well deserved win, showing she has transferred her form of 2014 onto her new bike and team (she moved from Lapierre to MS Mondraker). Rachel Atherton will be gutted to lose by two seconds in the second split, having taken the fastest first section, but she mirrored her second-place finish of qualifying. Likewise Myriam Nicole in third who was half a second back on Rachel’s time. And Manon Carpenter couldn’t quite hold the pace, a further five seconds back on the top three, finishing in fourth.
Poor Tracey Hannah – the fastest qualifier – took a huge digger in the lower section of track, being sent out the front door and straight to the harsh ground. The Aussie managed to jump up and still finish in fifth, but she was later seen ambulance-bound with arm/shoulder issues. We wish her the best of luck.
