Iles wrapped up a dominant weekend by qualifying first and then backing it up in finals with a significant win. He extends his lead over Walker in the overall as we head into the second half of the season and he’s starting to look a bit unstoppable. With his time just four seconds off Troy’s top quali time he’s going to be a force to contend with when he steps up to elites next year too
With rain clouds threatening, it was Nik Nesteroff who flew into the hotseat with the first significant time. He struggled on the hill but had one of the strongest bottom sectors to bully his way into contention.
Moritz Ribarich pipped him at the post before the times came tumbling. Joe Breeden slashed it by nearly four seconds, then both Max Hartenstern and Sylvain Cougoureux went faster again.
Kade Edwards put six seconds of daylight between himself and the rest of the field then Walker went even better putting four seconds into his time.
Only Iles was left at the top and from the first split he was clearly on a hot one. By the end of the run it was total decimation. Yesterday he looked catchable today he looked unstoppable.
Congrats also to Meg James who makes it two from two in her World Cup career as she won the junior women’s event by 15 seconds.
