All those ‘Visit Cairns’ trips that he has made must be paying off as Troy Brosnan takes the win in qualifying at the second round of the UCI World Cup out in Cairns, Australia. And great o see that after some years in the wilderness Mick Hannah has put in a good result. Lets hope he can keep in going for the finals. Gwin consistently slots into third, just over a second back. Bruni and Smith have solid runs too.
It rained during the morning, making the surface clay of the track wet and slippy for practice. So a lot of riders rode tentatively. Then the sun came out and it became dusty again for quailes. Wyn Masters was back on his bike after a head accident at Lourdes, Brendan Fairclough was feeling good after smashing his head in the rock garden yesterday, Mick Hannah was on fire, and Aaron Gwin through the whoops is completely on the ‘next level’!!!
1. Troy Brosnan: 3:30.747
2. Mick Hannah: 3:31.069
3. Aaron Gwin: 3:31.952
