Saturday Fort William Pits Round Up

Today was another busy day around the pits with the DH qualifying and the 4X finals. Here are some of the things we spotted around the pits today….

First off, while looking at the Santa Cruz Syndicate team bikes we noticed a rather nice looking pair of flat pedals on Josh Bryceland’s bike. Turns out they are Crank Brothers prototypes. The new 50/50 maybe?

Another interesting spot on all the Syndicate bikes are the Avid Juicy brake levers, matched with Elixir Calipers. The whole team are running them, so they can’t be bad….The older Juicy lever (which doesn’t feature the taperbore technology which the Elixir lever has) should provide a load more modulation, but not sacrificing the massive power of the Elixir caliper.

Some more shots of the team bikes….

Talking of Santa Cruz, we popped over to their stand to see the new Driver 8.

With the Crank Brothers prototype pedals on Bryceland’s bike, it must have got us to start looking. Not long after Billy found someone running these, the new prototype e.13 pedal. It looks like it has a metal cage, but covered/coated in a plastic/composite shell. They look pretty light, but expect it to be a long while before you can find these on the shelves…

After seeing the new Specialized kit earlier, and Sam Hill’s one off race kit for this weekend, I went snooping and had a look at their training bikes.

Chumba are a less well known company these days, but with Duncan Riffle and the GiantNerd Team riding them, they should gain some good exposure. Here’s the bike.

Hotlines had this Carbon Lappiere Zesty Prototype on their stand, which apparently is in the last stages of development and won’t be much different when you’ll be able to get your hands on one. No word on when yet though….

And finally, this guy seems to be thinking the same as most of the Brits here. Dr Peat is World Cup King. I think we’d be over the moon if Gee or Peaty won. A Brit to win at Fort William again would be pretty amazing.
