Myriam Nicole wins Vallnord women’s World Cup

Four races - four winners

Myriam Nicole has won the Vallnord World Cup. It’s her first win of the year and has given Commencal a win at their home race.

Rachel Atherton laid down the first significant time clearly showing her shoulder is getting stronger each run. She withstood attempts from Emilie Siegenthaler, Alia Marcellini and Manon Carpenter but Tahnee Seagrave would eventually unseat her.

Tahnee’s run was the first run to better Tracey Hannah’s time from yesterday’s qualifying but it remained to be seen just how much faster the rest of the women were charging.

Marine Cabirou was not quite able to beat Seagrave but she slotted in above Rachel and claimed her best ever result with a third.

Next up was Myriam Nicole, spurred on by a semi-home crowd at Commencal’s local race. She was behind on the pedally top but came alive in the steep chutes, pulling back 3.5 seconds over the final part of the track to take the hot seat.

Finally to top qualifier Tracey Hannah. She was fastest up top  and had  a second to spare but a huge off saw her throw away the lead, leaving Nicole to take her first World Cup win of the year.

That means we’ve now had four different winners in the women’s category – what a year it’s turning out to be!
