Maribor Thursday Update

The rain is falling here in Maribor, and looks like it’s going to continue all weekend.

The new finish area has been moved to the left of the ski lift and features a return to the large jump of previous years with the 4X and DH tracks sharing the landing.

The brand new ski lift will certainly be safer than the one that catastrophically failed last year. The top of the hill is hidden beneath menacing rain clouds, last year the sun came out for finals but the weather doesn’t look as promising this weekend.

Check back later on today to see World Champion Jared Graves attack the muddy 4X course.

The Syndicate will ride the new Santa Cruz carbon V10 tomorrow, is carbon the future for downhill?

Trek World Racing mechanic Sander Gijs hard at work spannering on one of the TWR Session 88 DH bikes. Today is also Sanders birthday, so “Happy Birthday” from Dirt Sandman!

Everyone seems pretty happy to be back on the World Cup circuit, none more so than Gee Atherton who is looking to make up for last years disaster here.

Just one more thing the media have to contend with, riders in the press room poaching internet… With Twitter and Facebook finished with for the day, Needles tries to figure out how to fit another car into his already overcrowded garage.
