Scorchio! It’s been bonkers hot all day here in Leogang, Austria, for 2015 UCI DH World Cup Round 3 Qualifying.
The track’s mostly dry as a bone – aside from the freshly cut, rutted woods sections which are moist and prime with roots a-plenty to catch stray wheels. We had several red flags during qualifying due to some harsh crashes, victims of a grip-less track and high speeds out in the open sections. At the top end of the rankings there were notable offs, not least from Loic Bruni, but it was unsurprising to see Aaron Gwin and Rachel Atherton at the top of the Elite results sheets, and once again round one Junior winner Andrew Crimmins up there too.
