Downhill

Dustbowl Derby

All the action from qualifying

We don’t know if it’s the altitude or there’s something in the Andorran water but there were some crazy speeds going down in Vallnord today

The riders are chucking themselves down the hill like kamikaze pilots and it’s still only qualies. It’s not always the best comparison but Troy’s time today was ten seconds faster than the past two years’ winning times, and that’s with the new, longer bottom section.

Troy Brosnan and Tracey Hannah painted the hill gold and green in an Aussie takeover in Andorra.  Both have roughly a second to play with but with speeds only getting faster and lines only getting bigger, they definitely can’t rest on their laurels.

Here’s all the action from another day of unbelievable speed.

Brendog has been ripping the mountain to pieces this weekend.
What else are Fridays for?
Loris was pounding out runs later than most in practice this morning and it paid off. He's one of two Syndicate sharks circling the top spot.
Is Brosnan finally getting used to that stretched out Sender? He's earned himself a decent margin over Minnaar for finals.
It's about time he notched another one. Could tomorrow be Brosnan's day?
Smooth and clean fro Bruni today, he knows he just needs a bit more aggression to get right up there in the mixer
Manon slipped into the top five today. Another solid result but we know she'll be wanting more.
Gwin unflinching as he drops into the steepest section. He sits fourth on his bogey track.
Sick Mick is looking thunderous through the steep chutes
The junior series could well be the most exciting of the year in 2017 as Walker and Iles continue to take chunks out of each other
Less than a second back, nuumber 21 is well on the cards here
Jacky Moir spotting lines through the shark's tooth sandstone
Rachel's really suffering out there with her shoulder far from 100 per cent. A true champion.
Getting low and nosing in the pink one - Finn just looks born to ride a mountain bike
Kade Edwards was closest to Iles and Walker today but still ended up six seconds adrift
LoLo getting low
Minaar laid down another minter today. How does he do it?!
Don't forget about Mark Wallace. Brosnan's team mate put in another top 20 performance
Brendog looking much more comfortable back on the smaller wheels and a solid qalifier proves it
Pompon is eyeing up big things at Commencal's home race
A second consecutive qualifying win for Tracey Hannah. She'll be hoping the top spot won't be stolen off her like it was in Leogang.
The women's field is such a melting pot at the moment. Three races, three winners, will Tracey Hannah break the pattern tomorrow?
