The news broke a few weeks ago that British cycling would be stopping insuring ‘Uplift days’ which has thrown a few companies into a bit of a sticky situation, unable to get insurance to cover them.
Namely the guys at WDMBA are having a bit of trouble, and in a recent call for help on their Facebook page we’re hoping something will be able to be sorted, if not it could be the end for uplift days at many locations across the UK.
It seems the guys at WDMBA are having more of an issue because they’re just offering an uplift day, other companies are working in conjunction with café’s and cycle centres, which makes it easier to get insurance elsewhere. As the uplifts operate on public land they’re required to have insurance.
We at Dirt really don’t want to see the end of uplift days at some of the UK’s best riding locations, and want to offer up as much help as we can! If anyone has any helpful information for WDMBA and uplift companies alike do let us know! It would be a great loss for the UK riding scene if these uplifts were to die out…
