THURSDAY WORLDS NEWS

Thursday 6 September

The weather this morning on the hill is over cast but dry, the midges are biting but the atmosphere is good. The course is getting pretty beaten up and the riders are loving it, the new woody section is riding well, though Peaty crashed on his first run down and found it difficult to unclip with his injured ankle, he returned to the pits to get it strapped up but is still finding it awkward to put any weight on it.

Kiwi rider Vanessa Quinn commented that the British girls looked ‘fast as f**k’.

We chatted to Sam Hills dad Merv who told us his boy was pretty relaxed and enjoying himself. Skin suits are starting to come out of the wardrobe and we’ll soon find out who’s on it as it’s the seeding runs today at 13.00pm.

Kovarik has been experimenting with mud tyres, he’s won here before remember, by 15seconds!, so keep an eye out for the Intense rider

4X training also takes place tonight at 19.30pm, the track opened for practise last night and the new sections looked ace.

Lopes looked good, so did Gracia and the Athertons. Bad news for current champ Jill Kintner, she took a tumble and has torn ligaments in her right elbow, she’s pretty pissed off but determined to race and said “there’s no way I wanna give up my title”
Mean while the rest of the pit village is just getting on with things, the Animal pit has a table football tournament going on, the SRAM mob are having fun with local place names especially a place called “Tornundy”.
The Russian team at our hotel gets bigger daily, and there is a pile of empty vodka bottles outside. In fact you can now actually buy official World Championship Whisky from the pit area.
