Things aren’t going too ideally up at Fort William for this weekend’s British Downhill Series/BC MTB Downhill Series Round 2 race.
Pretty horrendous weather has seen torrential rain, gale force winds and a decent helping of snow dumped on Aonach Mor, leading to no other choice but to close the gondola for yesterday’s practice and unfortunately also today, race day.
Riders have been given the option to push up to the wallride (around the 3/4 mark of the track) and race from there. Although by all accounts no one is particularly upbeat (understandably!), the weather can’t be helped and riders are gritting their teeth and getting on with it.
Here’s Wideopen Magazine‘s video round up from Friday’s riding and Saturday’s gondola closure.
More info and a round up of today’s events coming later.
