Stranger than fiction, 4X ruler and Olympic bronze medallist Jill Kintner, and DH ace Bryn Atkinson have both been dropped by GT.

Another case of ‘didn’t see this one coming’. We had heard earlier in the week from Jill herself that GT had offered her a frame deal for next year but then this was posted on her site yesterday:

“We just received a phone call that both Bryn and I will not be resigned with GT for ’09. We were really happy there, and love the bikes, so we are sad to leave after all the promotion and success, but it’s their call. 3 years, 2 national championships, World cup overall title, 2 World Championship titles, and now an Olympic Bronze in a different sport. Just wanted to say thank you for the support over the years, it’s been a good ride, but now it’s time for the next chapter.
Anyone interested?.
There are exciting plans on the horizon.”

A very ‘diplomatic’ response from Jill but inside she must be pretty pissed off. Just read through that list of titles again, over the last few seasons she has proved to be the best 4X racer out there. As for Bryn, he may not have got the results he had been hoping for of late, but he has always been up there and has been a great ambassador for GT.
Things move on I guess.
