Its all about the Rainbow stripes for steve peat this week.
First time for him to race in the World Champs jersey, after 16 years trying it must be a pretty special feeling. Along with the jersey, Steve has matching rainbow stripe kneepads, forks and possibly even under garments.
[although we are speculating there]
Sam Hill leads the overaall, but Greg Minnaar is chasing hard on his rear spike tyre. There’s only 16 point in it, so for these two riders, it may as well be another World Championship – all or nothing, winner takes all. The pressure is going to be high come Sunday morning.
Brendan Fairclough was on a killer run here last year when he went down spectacularly trying to double up a gap coming out of the forest.
This year he says he’s making it and we’ll be watching closely to see if he can put some pressure on the top 5.
In case you have not been doing your World Cup homework, some of the categories were already wrapped up last month in Canada. Sabrina Jonnier has a firm grip on womens title, she’s nearly 400 points clear, with just 250 going for a win.
Jared ‘the dominator’ Graves has it all squared away in mens 4X. World Cup title secured after Mont St Anne, then the long awaited World Champs jersey a couple of weeks ago in Canberra. Nothing really to prove today for Gravy, except maybe another chance to remind the opposition why he’s got this top on.
