Sam Hill and Miranda Miller win the 2009 US open

Just popped into the office to get some pedals for a Bank Holiday spin and heard the news that Sam Hill and Miranda Miller won the US open at the Diablo Freeride Park.
What’s more amazing is that Brendan Fairclough won the Giant Slalom, beating Hill and Brian Lopes. Brendogs backyard track training is paying off.

Jill Kintner took the womens slalom and with it $2000.

2000 bucks in 39.93 seconds….. sweet, and smoked sam hill so makes it way sicker!!!!! ha”

Does that work out at $360,000 an hour?

From Jill Kintner.com:
I had a really good run, which put me 16th fastest overall on this course , and a couple seconds ahead of the other ladies. Felt like the harder I tried the slower it was, all about flow and letting it go-High speed pump trackish. In the men’s field Sam and Lopes were tough competitors, Sam with his turning ability should have walked away with this in theory, and lopes on his hardtail had a little rougher ride but was amazingly fast and powerful , but brendan was going so fast- controlling his braking better and cornering faster I suppose. Felt like a big qualifying day- best of two runs. Love racing in America. First victory on the Intense Tazer VP, truly the most perfect slalom bike .
