Oh my God!!! What a day. This rampage event is nuts. After yesterdays disappointing weather, today was the day where we got to see what all these riders are made of. Coming from a race background I wasn’t sure how this whole thing would pan out and I have to say I’m more than impressed with it all.
The format has had to be adapted a bit with all the weather interruptions and today instead of the two qualifying runs we expected yesterday we had a morning of practice and then one qualifier in the afternoon.
It was all down to the riders putting in one solid run. It was a bit of a shame as a few that tried to lay down some amazing tricks didn’t quite get them and missed the cut. Below are the riders that did though and we’re sure to see some even more fabulous riding tomorrow.
The few riders who threw down some great stuff and didn’t make the cut included Andrew Taylor, who nearly landed a massive flip, Kelly McGarry who crashed doing an X-Up on the biggest triple step down and Chris Van Dine crashed on the same step down, getting blown in the wind. He had been putting in some amazing riding including trying a barrell roll in practice that just looked nuts.
Check out some of the riding so far in this film. The finals are tomorrow and are on a new part of the mountain. After qualifying today the riders were up there carving out new lines, they are going to be amazing!!!
