Rachel Atherton Wins Women’s Qualifying in Fort William

Rachel Atherton qualifies first at round 2 of the UCI Downhill World Cup in Fort William.

Confusion reigned for a moment here in Fort William. Rachel Atherton has posted the fastest time with Tracy Moseley in second, but both Sabrina Jonnier and Floriane Pugin were stopped by race marshals on the track when Emmeline Ragot crashed on the new road jump. Both Jonnier and Pugin went back up the hill for a second run, which is not really what they wanted to be doing. Jonnier will not be happy with her seventh place finish, having ridden the track twice! Pugin managed better with a third place.

Great results for Manon Carpenter in fifth and Jill Kintner in sixth.

Rachel Atherton just makes first place in qualifying.

Jonnier and Pugin will get a second run.

Ragot's bent pedal that dropped out on the road crossing jump.
