Here’s the report from the Megavalanche in the Reunion Islands written in that inimitable Franglais style:
Rémy ABSALON (Commencal) had been more than good today. He proved once again that he is the most versatile rider on the planet.
It was hard to keep his head without stress has he had to fight with so many top riders …. Julien ABSALON (Orbéa) Olympic Champion – Nino SCHURTER (Swiss Power) Bronze medal et Beijin on XC , Fabien BAREL (Subaru MTB PRO Team) Double Doble World Champion in DH and of course the guy who won so many times the Megavalanche Réné WILDHABER (Scott) !
After a good start Rémy kept the leadership of the race until the end. Fabien was in 2nd most of the way even with fork problems. René WIDHABER couldn’t do better than the 3rd place which is already very good obviously and Nino took his revanche on Julien here in Reunion as it finished 4th just head Julien who did 5th place.
The British Danny HART (Lapierre pwd by Saab Salomon) did a very good race. he had a mechanical problem yesterday and leave a far line but he finished 2nd Juniors congratulation Danny !
Where the hell are the Reunion Islands? Here.
Remy Absalon has had a pretty good year altogether. He won the Avalanche Cup overall which meant picking up the keys to a spanking new Saab motor.
