GT Factory Racing WC rider Marc “Slugger” Beaumont bangs out an emphatic victory at Combe Sydenham for Halo BDS round 1.
The sun came out on Sunday at the Combe and began drying up the damp track after Saturdays down pour. Beaumont made the most of the fast conditions and put the power down to take the win by nearly three seconds from Bryceland in 2nd spot.
A dose of drama in the women’s race as a red flag halted Rachel Atherton’s race run and kept Manon Carpenter waiting in the start gate for 15 or so minutes.
Returning from injury Rachel opted to run flats for this race as a precaution against another tumble and possibly lost out on the pedally sections. But hats off to Manon, after a 2nd place at the South African World Cup she is on fire at the moment and romped to her first BDS Elite win.
