Good news from Finland. Matti Lehikoinen has been riding a DH bike after breaking both his wrists at the Canberra WC in 2008. Here’s what Matti told us:
I am able to ride bit of DH now. My hand´s get pretty sore after but the pain goes away pretty quick. I have now about 50% of the movement back so thats not too good but I am doing loads of physio to get them better only time will show if they will get back to normal. I doubt that they will ever be as they were but I am pretty positive that they will work good enough to ride and live life.
I have also been riding moto a little bit. Thats actually better than riding DH for some reason. I have these OTS wrist braces that helps a lot because it limits the movement and I don´t need to worry about bending my wrist too much.
I will be going to Austria for week next sunday to do some training and physio and after that I’m planning to go ride some where that is warm and has no snow!
So if everything goes as planned I will be ready for South Africa in time.
Thanks Matti
