We reported recently about Last’s Kickstarter campaign for their new hardtail bike, well now we have some info on their new 160mm trail/enduro machine.

LAST COAL – FIRST LOOK
Developing the COAL was a time-consuming and intense process, because we wanted our new bike to be faster, lighter and more ergonomic. The development has been finalised, the bike was given its new name and production has started. It’s the perfect moment to introduce the new bike to you:
The COAL is designed for 650b wheels and has a suspension travel of 160 mm. It was of great importance for us to keep a playful geometry which called for a short chainstay. We achieved the same length as for the HERB 160, which is 428 mm. The steering angle of 65° allows for a controlled steering behaviour and corner handling.
The new bike comes in four frame sizes, from S to XL. For all frame sizes the seat tubes have been shortened (390/400/450/510) and standover height has been reduced thanks to the curved top tube. The length of the top tubes has slightly increased (reach 405/430/450/475), while the seat angle has been increased to 75°.
The dropouts show variability: both 142 mm thru-axle hubs as well as wider 148 Boost hubs can be used. The same is true for the cranks and chain line: Boost compatible and regular cranks can be installed. The BSA bottom bracket shell comes with an integrated ISCG 05 tab for the chainguide.
The new frame weighs 2.89 kg (size M), making it more than 750 g lighter than its predecessor. The COAL will be available as a frameset or as a complete bike in three different versions starting from 12.5 kg. The bike will be available from February 2016, pre-ordering will be possible from November 1st, 2016.
